Make A Difference Day
Our first Make A Difference Day was held in July 2021 on the final day of school before the summer break. The event was a combined wellbeing and fundraising day and marked the end of an era filled with lockdowns, disruptions and distress. Students took part in a whole host of different activities prepared by staff while raising a fantastic total of £350 for YoungMinds.
Part of the day gave every class the opportunity to reflect upon the past difficult years during the coronavirus pandemic in how they had been affected and grown as a young person, and encouraged them to look ahead to the future. There was also time for reflection upon God, writing prayers asking Him their 'big questions'.
The theme of the day was kindness, and students watched a video assembly where our Assistant Chaplain, Josh, found and interviewed three strangers about what kindness means to them, and spoke of God's kindness to us. The assembly also featured special messages from each year group's Head of Year and Learning Mentor. Here is the Kindness Assembly created for Year 9:
Original Song & Music Video
Students from our Make A Difference group created a music video for an original song, 'Found By You', written and performed by Josh and students from the Make A Difference group in support of YoungMinds and to promote the theme of kindness.
