Careers
We support all of our students to prepare for their lives beyond their time at St. Michael's.
Our careers curriculum falls within our Curriculum for Life:
- Spiritual Development - Collective Worship
- Career Development – World of Work
- Standards Development – Weekly leadership assemblies
- Health Development – Mental, Physical, Behavioural, Relational, Intellectual, Spiritual & Financial Health
- Values Development – Understanding and developing myself
Throughout their time at St. Michael's, all students will learn about a variety of careers, as well as preparing practically for post-16 education/training and beyond.
The table below is an outline of what students will cover during their careers education:
We work with a number of external providers, including Career Connect and the Careers and Enterprise Company to offer excellent careers advice and guidance to all of our students. During their time at St Michael’s, every student will receive 1:1 or small group careers interviews to support them to make choices about their next steps.
In addition to our careers curriculum and careers advice sessions, students across all years will have a variety of opportunities to meet employers, visit workplaces and develop their understanding of the world of work.
Sixth Form
St Michael’s Sixth Form recognises the importance of its role in preparing our young people for participation in society as informed and active citizens. The Sixth Form aims to provide students with the opportunities to build on previously acquired skills, to begin to develop an individual adult identity and benefit from impartial IAG via the Careers Connect Advisor. Our School Careers Adviser is there to help students find the right path, providing impartial advice and guidance on everything from education, training and apprenticeship applications and work prospects.
